Dec'23

December 2023 - From the park’s first inception, Waterbom has placed a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, integrating sustainable practices into its operations and fostering a team culture that aligns with the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana. This traditional philosophy promotes the harmonious coexistence of people, nature, and spirituality, and serves as a guiding principle in our company culture.

These efforts led to the recent acknowledgement by the Tri Hita Karana Awards 2023, recognizing businesses upholding Balinese principles. Waterbom proudly received the Super Platinum III medal at the Denpasar awards ceremony in December 2023, following a rigorous inspection by Tri Hita Karana Awards authorities.

Waterbom's dedication to environmental protection has remained consistent since the early days of the park. Rather than destroying the natural landscapes, founder Santo Gulino embraced a sustainable approach. He chose to build the water park within a lush green space, integrating the slides around the existing trees. Currently, over 50% of the park is adorned with lush greenery, comprising gardens that harmoniously blend with the water attractions, instilling a sense of tranquility and escape. Throughout its journey in reimagining the water park experience, Waterbom has consistently upheld eco-conscious practices, seamlessly incorporating sustainability into strategies and operations. Various sustainability initiatives have been conducted to conserve water, energy, and manage our waste onsite.

Beyond the park's operations, we also maintain our commitment to community support and creating positive impact. Through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, Waterbom extends financial support biannually to an orphanage in Karangasem, covering children's school fees and providing essential monthly allowances. Our team ensures educational needs are met by supplying essential books and stationery to these children. Waterbom also organizes specialized training programs for graduates of a special needs school in Jimbaran. These programs aim to equip the students with essential skills that will open doors to better future prospects and personal growth opportunities.

To honour spiritual harmony, our park temple (the cultural heart of Waterbom) was renovated in early 2023, and re-designed by our internal team, with an expanded size and hand-crafted features. Our Hindu team members engage in daily traditional Balinese rituals at the temple to maintain spiritual balance and honor the blessings received during the park's 30-year history. Moreover, team members of diverse faiths celebrate their significant occasions by engaging with local orphanages and charitable organizations.

We are proud of our cultural values and we invite you to experience a waterpark like no other - one that is the living embodiment of the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana.
